Maklin Bike Shop in Scandia, Minnesota — located NE of the Twin Cities, between Stillwater and the Chisago Lakes. Owners Lynn and Steve, along with their oldest son Kyle. You'll see Reid popping in and out on occasion as well.
Where does the name come from?
Lynn's maiden name is Makela and Steve's last name is Hamlin. A combination of the two — and there you go.
Who you'll meet
Lynn has an Information Systems degree from Michigan Tech and runs much of our day to day in the store, service scheduling, and much of the back end of the business. When Lynn's not at the store or running the boys around for their activities, she enjoys mountain biking and gravel riding and will do some racing as well. Lynn's done the Ore 2 Shore, Chequamegon, Badlands Gravel Battle and the Minnesota Mountain Bike series Marathon Series.
Steve has a Mechanical Engineering degree from Michigan Tech and handles a majority of our custom bike builds and more technical service work, along with helping customers narrow down the right bike, parts or accessories for their ride. He also does a lot of our social media content runs our YouTube channel. He likes riding all kinds of bike and enjoys racing. Although he has turned to support crew for the rest of the family as they've gotten more into racing. Steve's done various endurance races such as the Marji Gesick 100, Maah Daah Hey 100, Badlands Gravel Battle, Lutsen 99er, Wilderness 101, Shenandoah 100, Wilderman Full Iron Offroad Tri, Tuscobia 80 and others.

Maklin has a full service dept handling anything from basic a la-carte service to full overhauls down to the frame and most anything in-between. Maklin also sells and stocks a variety of parts and accessories.
Looking for a custom-built bike, a slight variation of a stock build or something in-between…? They can build up complete custom bikes or swap parts in/out of existing builds to get you the personalized ride that you are looking for.
We build on Cervélo, Santa Cruz, Bianchi, TIME, Moots, Salsa & Jamis — and stock gear from POC, Smith, Garmin, Lake, Maxxis, Vittoria, Shimano, SRAM, Wolf Tooth, Kuat, Park Tool and more.
